Indiantown residents voice concerns as developers push Project Silver Fox data center

During a community open‑house meeting on Monday night, residents of Indiantown gathered to discuss the proposed 606‑acre Project Silver Fox, a large‑scale data center slated for Silver Fox Lane. The developers, represented by Panattoni Data Centers, presented the plan as an economic opportunity, but many locals left the session frustrated, citing unanswered questions about sound, water use and environmental impact.

Resident concerns

Long‑time resident Penny Kaminsky‑Preli opened the floor with a pointed remark: “It’s horrendous, and they can’t even answer our questions. I must have asked this guy here, this guy over there, ‘Well, we don’t know that yet, we don’t know that yet.’ Well, why are you here?” Other attendees echoed similar worries. One neighbor asked, “I want to know about the sound,” while another pressed, “What impact is it going to have on us environmentally?” A third resident, Murphy, summed up the sentiment: “What is this community getting for what they are investing? We don’t want it. It does no good for us.”

Developer response

Adam Kramer, president of Panattoni Data Centers, addressed the concerns directly. He emphasized that the site is already designated as industrial land and that the project would not require rezoning. “We’re not in your backyard; we’re 1.5 miles away,” Kramer said. He also clarified that the data center would not draw on Indiantown’s water supply, stating, “It’s not taking away from the community.”

Kramer highlighted the projected benefits: the facility is expected to create a range of jobs, from construction to ongoing operations, and generate new tax revenue for the town. He framed the development as a chance for Indiantown to diversify its tax base and attract further investment without compromising existing resources.

Planning process

Project Silver Fox remains in the planning stage. The developers must submit a detailed site plan for administrative approval by the village. If the plan meets code requirements, the data center could move forward, potentially bringing the promised economic upside to the community.

Local officials have not yet taken a formal vote on the proposal, but the open‑house meeting signals that the village will need to balance resident concerns with the potential fiscal benefits. The dialogue reflects a broader conversation in many Florida towns about how to manage rapid technological development while preserving quality of life for longtime residents.

What’s next?

Indiantown’s village council is expected to review the site plan in the coming weeks. Residents are encouraged to continue participating in public meetings and to submit written comments to ensure their voices are heard during the approval process. The outcome will shape not only the future of the Silver Fox Lane parcel but also the town’s approach to large‑scale infrastructure projects moving forward.
