Incumbent Rep. Jared Moskowitz Wins Democratic Primary for Florida’s 25th District

In a decisive victory on Tuesday, Rep. Jared Moskowitz retained the Democratic nomination for Florida’s 25th Congressional District. With 91 percent of precincts reporting, Moskowitz earned 63.5 percent of the vote, while union organizer Oliver Larkin captured 36.5 percent.

Local candidates and the race ahead

Moskowitz, a 45‑year‑old two‑term incumbent and one of the more prominent Jewish Democrats in the House, will face former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, the Republican nominee, in the November 3 general election. The district’s newly drawn boundaries, approved by the state legislature, tilt the map in favor of Republicans, making the contest a focal point for both parties.

Endorsements and campaign backing

Larkin, 33, received support from the Democratic Socialists of America, as well as endorsements from streamer Hasan Piker and former Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York. Moskowitz was backed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Policy contrasts

Larkin’s platform included Medicare for All, the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, elimination of the U.S. Senate, and an end to U.S. military aid to Israel. He described Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza as a “genocide” and called for taxing billionaires “out of existence.” Moskowitz, by contrast, has consistently voted for U.S. aid to Israel and has condemned fellow Democrats who label Israel’s response to the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack a “genocide.”

Campaign dynamics

Most polling placed Moskowitz ahead by double digits. One exception was a Democrat‑sponsored survey by the Center for Strategic Politics that showed a narrower margin of 40 percent to 38 percent. Larkin previously worked on Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign and has been vocal about progressive reforms.

During a Fox News interview last month, Larkin said he does not support “a religious supremacist regime, whether it be in Israel or Saudi Arabia, or any other country.” He also criticized Moskowitz for describing himself as a “[Ron] DeSantis Democrat,” referencing Moskowitz’s earlier role as director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management under the Republican governor.

Moskowitz declined to debate Larkin, telling a local radio station, “I’m not going to platform him. He’s running against me solely on my religion.” The statement underscores the heightened tension surrounding the race.

What’s next?

With the primary settled, both campaigns will shift focus to the general election. Moskowitz is expected to emphasize his experience in federal office and his support for Israel, while Singer will likely highlight the district’s new Republican‑leaning map and broader state‑level priorities.

Voters in the 25th District will receive their ballots in November, and the outcome will contribute to the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives as the nation heads toward the 2026 midterm elections.
