An illegal immigrant, Andrii Dmyterko, a Ukrainian national, was granted humanitarian parole by Biden’s Department of Homeland Security in 2024. He was also given a work visa, allowing him to drive a semi-truck on American highways despite not being able to read road signs.
Tragic Consequences
On May 6, 2025, Dmyterko crashed his truck into stopped cars, killing 53-year-old high school coach Woodie Earl Beck III and 37-year-old Ashley Marie Springer McDonald. Beck leaves behind a wife and four sons, while McDonald leaves behind three sons.
Dmyterko pleaded guilty to two counts of criminally negligent homicide and will serve two years in an Alabama prison. The case was delayed due to the lack of a Ukrainian translator for Dmyterko.
The Trump administration criticized the Biden administration for paroling Dmyterko, stating that he should never have been allowed to drive a semi-truck. ICE has lodged a detainer to remove Dmyterko from the country after his sentence ends.
