Idaho State University Introduces Three-Year Bachelor’s Programs

Idaho State University is set to launch an innovative educational initiative this fall, introducing three-year Bachelor of Applied Sciences degrees. This makes Idaho State the first public university in the state to offer such accelerated programs, providing students with a quicker route to obtaining their degrees.

The new programs are designed to blend in-person and lab instruction with online classes, allowing for a flexible learning experience. According to Jerry Anhorn, dean of Idaho State’s College of Technology, these degrees aim to create greater opportunities for career advancement and help students transition more swiftly into meaningful employment.

Addressing Workforce Challenges

The development of these programs involved collaboration with industry partners to specifically address workforce challenges impacting Idaho. By integrating technical education with leadership, communication, and applied management skills, the programs are tailored to prepare graduates for advancement opportunities in high-demand industries.

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities has accredited all three programs, ensuring they meet rigorous academic standards. This accreditation is a testament to the quality and relevance of the education that Idaho State University is providing to its students.

As Idaho continues to face various workforce challenges, initiatives like these from Idaho State University are crucial in equipping the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in the local economy. By offering accelerated paths to graduation, the university is not only enhancing educational opportunities but also contributing to the state’s economic development.
