Idaho Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday

As America reaches its 250th birthday, Idaho is hosting numerous events to commemorate this milestone. The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, led by former U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios, has been planning this celebration for 10 years. Idaho has its own America250 organization, which will be hosting educational events across the state.

Local Events

In Idaho Falls, the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho will host an event from June 22-25, featuring art materials and activities for teachers. In Eagle, a multi-day event will take place at Eagle City Hall and Heritage Park, featuring live music, food, and an inflatable amusement park for kids. Other events will be held in Nampa, Rexburg, Pocatello, and Meridian.

The Idaho Advisory Council will host a family-friendly celebration on the Capitol’s steps and Cecil Andrus Park on July 4, featuring live music, hands-on educational activities, and food trucks. The Idaho State Museum will also offer free admission from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 4, with two new exhibitions and hands-on activities for all age groups.

Zoo Boise will celebrate America’s birthday with $2.50 admission from July 4 to July 5. The zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a limit on the number of occupants after 4 p.m.
