A 72-year-old anti-ICE protester, Linda Wolff, was maced by an ICE agent in Upper Manhattan during an ICE operation. Wolff, who is vehemently anti-ICE, was back out protesting on Friday night in New Jersey. She took a video as she was on the receiving end of the mace, which has left her with acute laryngitis.
Confrontation with ICE Agent
Wolff says she confronted a tow truck driver who was assisting an ICE vehicle with a flat tire. An ICE agent then approached her and used mace. Wolff stated that she was so high on adrenaline that she didn’t realize the extent of the macing until later.
Two NYPD officers arrived on the scene several minutes later and asked the agent for ID. The agent responded, ‘We don’t have to,’ and drove off. The incident has sparked controversy, with Wolff planning to sue under New York State’s new Bivens Act, which allows individuals to sue federal officers in state court for violating their constitutional rights.
