The northbound lanes of I-35 will be closed between Slaughter Lane and SH 71/Ben White Boulevard for up to 4 weekends, starting from June 26, for construction crews to work on elevated managed lanes as part of the I-35 Capital Express South Project.
Construction Details
Drivers traveling northbound will use the William Cannon Drive exit, pass Stassney Lane, and merge back onto I-35, according to a news release from TxDOT. The project, which began in 2022, will add two high-occupancy-vehicle lanes, a southbound bypass lane, and pedestrian and bicycle paths, with a total cost of $548 million.
The closures will occur on the following days from 11 p.m.-9 a.m.: June 26 and 27, July 10 and 11, July 17 and 18, and July 24 and 25 (if needed). TxDOT officials anticipate completing the project in late 2028.
