Casper College has begun demolishing its Wheeler Terrace dorm, which has been a part of the college’s campus for 55 years. The apartment-style dorms were taken out of commission at the end of the 2024-2025 school year due to their age and condition.
Demolition Timeline
According to Recycled Materials LLC owner Pete Peterson, demolition is expected to be complete by mid-July. Asbestos removal was completed earlier this year. The Casper Fire Department used the empty structure for essential fire training before demolition began.
The college is exploring options for more student housing in the future. Nearby Residence Hall was built about 15 years ago and has 225 rooms with two beds each. A consultant hired by the college said the college could have need for up to 145 beds, but recommended 125 to account for occupancy variations.
