Louisiana state and local leaders celebrated the completion of the $128 million Interstate 20 rehabilitation project in Caddo and Bossier parishes on Monday, marking one of the most significant investments made in the interstate corridor in decades.
Project Details
The project transformed a 3.5-mile stretch of I-20 through a complete reconstruction of all travel lanes and ramps at five interchanges, from near Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive in Bossier City.
In addition to the interstate rebuild, the project included major improvements across the Red River on portions of I-20 in Shreveport, including extensive concrete panel replacements, drainage upgrades, and new drainage structures.
Drivers will also benefit from new overhead signage, an updated street lighting system, newly installed barrier walls and headlight glare screens, as well as fresh roadway striping and reflectorized pavement markings designed to improve visibility and safety.
Transportation officials say the investment will help support continued economic growth and provide the modern infrastructure and connectivity expected from a major interstate system serving a busy metropolitan area.
