Three Houston chefs have won James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards, with Maximo chef Adrian Torres winning the Emerging Chef prize and JŪN chefs Evelyn Garcia and Henry Lu winning the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Texas.
Local Winners
Houston led all Texas cities with six finalists, including three winners. The other finalists were Hugo Ortega and Tracy Vaught of H-Town Restaurant Group for Outstanding Restaurateur, Agnes and Sherman for Best New Restaurant, June Rodil of March for Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service, and Ope Amosu of ChopnBlok for Best Chef: Texas.
