Elizabethtown officials broke ground on a new 100-room Hyatt Studios hotel on Dixie Avenue, marking a significant step in the city’s plans to revitalize the corridor and attract more development.
Development Plans
The city is using a $12 million federal grant to rebuild the streetscape, which will include improved sidewalks, landscaping, and streetlights. Officials hope to complete the project within the next year.
Karan Shah with BKS Development, the developer of the hotel, said the location is perfect due to its proximity to Interstate 65 and the growing north side of the city.
Elizabethtown Mayor Jeff Gregory said the groundbreaking for the Hyatt Studios is symbolic of their broader plans to bring dozens of similar projects to the area in the coming years.
John Pack, owner of Yokefellow Coffee Roasters on South Dixie Avenue, believes the hotel project is a sign of more economic growth to come.
