Hoover, Ala. — Katie Guerin, a longtime resident, mother of two, and proprietor of Foil Salon in nearby Vestavia Hills, was crowned Mrs. Alabama America 2026 on June 15. The title earns her a spot at the national Mrs. America competition, scheduled for Aug. 25–Sept. 3 in Las Vegas.
From Pageant Teen to Adult Champion
Guerin’s involvement in scholarship pageants began at age 12, competing across Alabama, Georgia and Florida. After aging out of teen contests, she moved into the adult division, earning titles such as Ms. Alabama United States and Ms. Woman Florida United States. At 30, she stepped away from the stage to focus on marriage, motherhood, and her career as a hair stylist.
Family, Faith, and Business
Now married to Clay, Guerin raises two daughters, Minnie (4) and Rosie (2). She opened Foil Salon in 2022 at 260 Old Town Road in Vestavia Hills, offering hair services alongside a nail technician and massage therapist. “When I won, Minnie could hardly stand it and jumped on the stage and gave me a big kiss. That was the best feeling,” Guerin said, adding that she wants her girls to see that marriage and motherhood do not end personal dreams.
Community Service and Future Plans
During her reign, Guerin will continue supporting nonprofits such as The Lovelady Center, Ronald McDonald House, Go Red for Women, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and her own Umbrella Foundation. The Umbrella Foundation is developing a scholarship program for girls ages 4 to 18 called Little Miss Birmingham, slated to launch in early 2027.
Guerin emphasized that the pageant experience is about more than a crown. “If you focus too much on winning, you miss out on the experience as a whole. I’m looking forward to being with the other women and enjoying the shows, dinners and new friendships,” she said. “Every single woman is significantly different, incredibly talented and has achievements on another level.”
Mrs. America Competition
The national Mrs. America contest will be broadcast via the organization’s social‑media channels. Alongside Mrs. America, the event will feature Miss for America Strong and Mrs. American, marking the 50th anniversary of the program.
Guerin’s journey from teen pageant hopeful to business owner and community volunteer illustrates the message she hopes to share with her daughters: dreams have no expiration date, and faith, family, and hard work can coexist with personal ambition.
