Hoover vs. Muscle Shoals

Last season, Hoover finished 6-5 and fell in the first round of the playoffs to Central‑Phenix City. Muscle Shoals posted a 12‑1 record before losing in the Class 6A semifinals to eventual state champion Clay‑Chalkville.
Coach Chip English enters his third year at the helm of the Hoover Bucs, aiming for a more consistent performance from start to finish. Muscle Shoals will be led by new head coach Michael Darden, who was promoted after longtime coach Scott Basden retired following the 2025 season.
This will be the first meeting between the two programs. After the game, Hoover travels to Opelika next Thursday, while Muscle Shoals has an open date.
Spain Park at Sparkman
Date: Friday, Aug. 21
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Sparkman High School
Spain Park finished 9‑3 last season, exiting in the second round of the playoffs to Saraland. Sparkman ended the year 5‑6, losing in the first round.
Fifth‑year head coach Tim Vakakes returns to guide the Jaguars in Class 6A, Region 3, after guiding the team to the playoffs in each of the past two seasons. The offense will be led by new starting quarterback Nash Davis.
Spain Park defeated Sparkman 48‑21 in 2025 and has won four of the last five matchups. Next week, Spain Park hosts Bessemer City, while Sparkman remains at home to play Austin.
