Los Angeles residents and visitors will gather at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Oct. 24 for the 27th annual Día de los Muertos celebration. The day‑long event runs from noon to midnight on the historic grounds at 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard.
Music, art and cultural programming
The musical lineup is anchored by Mexican‑American singer‑songwriter DannyLux, with additional performances by Trish Toledo, East Los Angeles‑based Tropa Magica, San Diego indie group Los Shadows and DJs Que Madre, JOAQU.N and Dro Barlo. All acts will perform on the Muerte y Tradición Stage, offering a blend of contemporary and traditional sounds.
Theme and purpose
This year’s theme, “All Under One Sky / Bajo un Mismo Cielo,” emphasizes shared experiences of love, loss, memory, compassion and hope across cultures and borders. Organizers say the festival provides a space for families to remember deceased relatives and celebrate life together.
Altars, processions and family activities
Community‑created altars and ofrendas will display photographs, mementos and traditional offerings honoring ancestors. A ceremonial procession featuring Aztec performers will wind through the cemetery, followed by live music, dance and cultural presentations.
A Children’s Plaza will host hands‑on art projects inspired by Día de los Muertos traditions, giving kids a chance to learn about the holiday in a fun, respectful setting. Inside the Cathedral Mausoleum, an exhibition will showcase works by invited artists, adding a visual‑arts dimension to the festivities.
Vendors, competitions and more
Arts, crafts and food vendors will line the grounds, offering a variety of Mexican‑style treats and handmade goods. The event also includes annual altar and costume competitions, encouraging participants to showcase their creativity.
Organizers indicated that additional programming details will be released as the date approaches. Tickets and further information are available through the event’s official website.
