Hillsboro, Ore. – A local player who wishes to stay anonymous hit the $4.2 million Oregon Lottery Megabucks jackpot on the October 10 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at the Tanasbourne West Chevron, located at 7499 NE Imbrie Drive.
Store owner shares the good news
Chevron owner Aref Zghoul said this is the first jackpot ever sold at his location. “I was really shocked,” Zghoul told the Oregon Lottery when he learned of the win. “I thought maybe a few hundred, but when she said $4.2 million, I was shocked.”
The store, a Lottery retailer since 2020, will receive a $42,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Zghoul announced that each of his 12 employees will receive a share of the bonus, with clerk Manny Martinez receiving a special award for selling the ticket.
Giving back to the community
Beyond employee rewards, Zghoul said he will make donations to an Oregon‑based youth charity and to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation USA. The remaining funds will be used for modest upgrades to the Chevron location.
“We are very glad that it was one of our customers – and hopefully, one of our regulars,” Zghoul added, emphasizing the win’s local significance.
About Oregon’s Megabucks game
Megabucks is known for some of the most favorable jackpot odds in the world. The game’s jackpot resets to $1 million after a win. Earlier this year, a player in Prineville won a $3.2 million prize.
The Oregon Lottery advises players to sign the back of their tickets and to consult a trusted financial planner after a big win. Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize.
Lottery’s contribution to Oregon
Since its inception on April 25, 1985, the Oregon Lottery has generated more than $17.8 billion for the state, funding economic development, public schools, outdoor recreation, state parks, veteran services and watershed enhancements. For more information, visit www.oregonlottery.org.
