A high-speed pursuit unfolded on Saturday night as Florida Highway Patrol troopers chased a motorcyclist across Pasco and Hernando counties. The incident began when a trooper detected a motorcycle traveling at 104 mph in a 45 mph zone on State Road 52, near Hicks Road. The rider, later identified as Jeff Freymuller, accelerated to speeds exceeding 145 mph when the trooper attempted a traffic stop.
Chase Across County Lines
The pursuit intensified as Freymuller weaved through traffic, evading a second trooper at State Road 589 before continuing at extreme speeds. The chase spanned multiple roads, with Freymuller running red lights and stop signs. Eventually, he slowed to make a sharp turn onto Key Lime Drive, where the initial trooper resumed the primary chase.
Freymuller was finally apprehended after stopping on Lake Drive. A search revealed he possessed medical marijuana and a valid card. He admitted to fleeing due to fear of being caught with marijuana and confessed to consuming alcohol earlier that day.
Legal Consequences
Freymuller faces charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement and traveling over 100 mph. While he showed little signs of impairment during sobriety tests, the presence of alcohol was noted. Additional traffic citations for the ignored signals remain uncertain.
