HBO’s The Last of Us Season 3 Set for 2027

HBO’s post-apocalyptic drama, The Last of Us, is set to return for a third season in 2027. Despite internet rumors, the show has not been canceled. A temporary pause in filming from June 1 through June 28 was planned due to local preparations for the World Cup in Vancouver.

Season 3 Details

Production for Season 3 began in March and is scheduled to continue through late November. The second season served as a curtain-raiser for Kaitlyn Dever and her character, Abby. It ended with a calendar reset, which implied that audiences will follow Abby through post-apocalyptic Seattle in Season 3.

Co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann confirmed that Dever will be the season’s big star. Mazin stated that their challenge is to make the audience question their feelings towards Abby and maybe even start to love her. The show’s creators are working to make the audience think about the concept of a hero and where their loyalties lie.
