Haughton residents stay vigilant as escaped inmate search continues

Four days after 24‑year‑old Caddo Parish correctional inmate Tre’Veon Jackson escaped deputy custody in Shreveport, residents of the Country Place subdivision in Haughton, La., are still on high alert. The escaped inmate was last seen in Bossier Parish near the subdivision, prompting homeowners to increase security measures while authorities continue their search.

Community concerns and calls for information

“We need answers,” said Brandon Kitchens, president of the Country Place homeowners association. “We know that there is information that law enforcement cannot give us. Sure, I understand. But we need to know something.” Kitchens added that he has confidence in the agencies involved but would feel more at ease with greater transparency.

Longtime resident Ronnie Jordan expressed a more cautious optimism. “I don’t think that he’s out here. He’d be a fool if he was,” Jordan said. “I don’t think he has any ties to this neighborhood.” He also warned his wife to stay inside and not answer the door after learning Jackson had been traced nearby.

Law‑enforcement response

Neither the Bossier Parish nor Caddo Parish sheriff’s offices provided an update on Thursday. However, Lt. Breck Scott of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that investigators have received more than 100 tips from the public since Monday. “Deputies are following up on those tips and taking each one seriously,” Scott said.

One tip led officers to the Shell gas station on North Market Street, but the lead proved unfounded. Scott emphasized that multiple agencies—including the Louisiana State Police and both parish sheriff’s offices—are coordinating efforts to locate Jackson if he remains in the local area.

Residents’ next steps

With limited information available, many Country Place residents are taking personal precautions. Some are keeping doors locked, limiting outdoor activity after dark, and staying informed through neighborhood communication channels. The homeowners association continues to press law‑enforcement for updates, hoping that increased public awareness will aid the investigation.

Authorities have asked anyone with credible information to contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318‑555‑0198 or the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318‑555‑0123.
