Harnett County Gas Leak

A gas leak sparked a major emergency response in Harnett County on Tuesday night. The Flat Branch Fire department received a report of a large propane tank leaking 250 pounds of gas near Loop Road.

Other teams, including the Harnett County Fire Marshal and Emergency Services, were requested for assistance to safely mitigate the hazard. Additional crews from the North Carolina Hazardous Materials Regional Response Team, Fayetteville Fire Department Regional Response Team 3 (RRT-3), and North Carolina Emergency Management were also requested.

Hazardous materials specialists conducted a controlled burn operation until the leaking tank was emptied and deemed safe. Harnett County officials recognized all local responders for their specialized resources and support.
