Hardin County Schools are gearing up for the new school year, with students set to return to the classroom next week. Teachers across the district are spending the final days of summer putting the finishing touches on their classrooms, while district leaders are helping families prepare for the new year.

Hands-On Learning Emphasis

According to Hardin County Schools Superintendent Terrie Morgan, the district is focusing on providing more hands-on experiences for students, with less emphasis on technology and screen time. “We really want our students to have more hands-on experiences, less technology, less screen time, and more interactions with their peers,” Morgan said.

Teachers are working to create welcoming learning environments, with Stephanie Dow, a teacher at North Hardin, looking forward to the new school year with a stable staff. “I’m really looking forward to just having an established staff that all feel like we know North Hardin and just growing from there,” Dow said.

Open Houses and Preparation

The district is also hosting open houses to give families an opportunity to get familiar with their schools. Parents and students can meet teachers, see classrooms, and reconnect with friends before classes begin. The district is encouraging families to use the Stopfinder app, which allows parents to track their child’s school bus in real time, especially during bad weather.

District leaders say their goal is to make sure every student walks through the doors ready to learn and start the school year strong. “It’s just a great environment, great atmosphere. I’m so excited for kids to be back in the building,” Dow said.
