Dallas and Fort Worth families will gather for H‑E‑B/Central Market’s annual Feast of Sharing, a free holiday meal event that underscores the grocery chain’s long‑standing commitment to fighting hunger in Texas. The Dallas celebration is set for Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Centennial Hall at Fair Park. The Fort Worth event will take place a week earlier, Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the lower level of Ariat Arena (formerly Dickies Arena).
Community volunteers power the feast
“One of the things that makes Feast of Sharing so special is seeing our community come together in the spirit of service during the holiday season,” said Mabrie Jackson, managing director of public affairs for H‑E‑B/Central Market. “From families and friends to businesses, churches and schools, volunteers play a vital role in creating a welcoming experience for our guests.”
Volunteers from H‑E‑B, Central Market, Joe V’s Smart Shop and Favor will staff the events, helping to serve meals and guide guests to the on‑site resource booths. More than 40 social‑service agencies will be present, offering information on food assistance, housing, health care and other critical services.
A Texas‑style holiday celebration
Both feasts feature a family‑friendly, Texas‑style holiday menu, live music, a kid’s zone and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The free meals are part of H‑E‑B’s Hunger Relief Program, which has provided over 250,000 meals each year at these events. Since the program’s inception in 1982, H‑E‑B has donated more than 1 billion pounds of food to 5,500 nonprofit organizations across Texas and Mexico.
Last year the Hunger Relief Program delivered 34 million pounds of food to families in need. Over the three‑decade history of Feast of Sharing, more than 375,000 volunteers have helped serve nearly five million meals, reinforcing the program’s role as a cornerstone of H‑E‑B’s year‑round anti‑hunger efforts.
