Diana Pepper, a Gulfport resident, found an unexpected path to healing after a traumatic car crash in December 2024. The accident occurred on I-75 in Georgia when a truck driver crashed into her vehicle, resulting in a traumatic brain injury (TBI) for Pepper and around-the-clock care for her mother.
Discovering Artistic Expression
Pepper’s journey to healing began in January when she learned of her daughter’s pregnancy. Wanting to create custom artwork for the baby nursery, she picked up a paintbrush for the first time. Since then, she has created 58 paintings, stating that the process has been therapeutic and calming for her.
Pepper’s vibrant work is now available to the public through her first solo art exhibition, currently on display at the Gulfport Merchants Chamber through mid-August. Her story serves as a testament to the human spirit’s ability to find hope and healing in the face of adversity.
