Green Bay Rockers Secure Victory with Grand Slam Against Dock Spiders

The Green Bay Rockers triumphed over the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders with a decisive 5-1 victory, thanks to a grand slam by Eli Selga in the seventh inning. The game, held in Green Bay, saw the Rockers break a scoreless tie in dramatic fashion.

Seventh Inning Surge

Heading into the seventh inning, the Rockers were facing a perfect game from Dock Spiders’ pitcher Kyle Manship. However, Parker Martin disrupted the no-hit bid with a single up the middle. Following an error that allowed Max Humphrey to reach base and a bunt single by Payton Fort, the stage was set for Selga’s heroics. With the bases loaded, Selga launched a towering fly ball into right field, clearing the fences and giving the Rockers a 4-0 lead.

Seungmin Shin added to the lead with an RBI double, bringing the score to 5-0 by the end of the inning. The Rockers, who had not managed a baserunner until this point, capitalized on their opportunities to take control of the game.

Strong Pitching Performance

Will Harrigan delivered an impressive performance on the mound for the Rockers, pitching six scoreless innings and allowing only four hits. The bullpen also contributed with effective one-inning appearances from Caden Roth, Jayden Martin, and KJ Ward. Roth struck out three batters, while Martin added two more strikeouts to the tally.

Defensively, Zach Novakowski made a crucial outfield assist in the sixth inning, throwing out Dock Spiders’ Cameron Uzzillia at home plate to keep the game scoreless at that point.

Late Game Tension

The Dock Spiders attempted a comeback in the ninth inning as KJ Ward struggled with control, hitting two batters and walking another, which allowed them to score a run. However, Ward managed to regain his composure, securing the final out with an infield pop-up to end the game.

With this win, the Green Bay Rockers improve their record to 7-4, tying with Wausau for the top spot in the Great Lakes West division. The early season competition suggests a closely contested race for the first half title.
