Great Falls Announces Final Summer Events: Ryan Island Closure, Farmer’s Market, and Arts on Fire

Great Falls, Mont. – As September settles in, the city’s beloved summer attractions are winding down, giving families and visitors a last chance to soak up the season’s festivities before autumn takes hold.

Ryan Island closes after Labor Day

Ryan Island, accessed via a short suspension bridge over the Missouri River, will close for the season after Labor Day. The island, which offers close‑up views of the Great Falls and interpretive displays about the Corps of Discovery and the region’s hydroelectric heritage, is open to the public from Mother’s Day through Labor Day. Residents planning a final visit should schedule their trip before the bridge is secured for the winter months.

Great Falls Farmer’s Market wraps up September 26

The Great Falls Farmer’s Market will continue its 2026 season through the last Saturday in September, concluding on September 26. Vendors line both sides of the Great Falls Civic Center and spill onto adjacent streets, offering homemade goods, crafts, artwork, and locally produced foods. Market hours remain 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing a convenient weekend destination for families seeking fresh produce and unique handmade items.

15th annual Arts on Fire returns to Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art

On Saturday, September 19, the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art will host the 15th annual Arts on Fire festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event features food trucks, live music, dance performances, artist demonstrations, an artist vendor market, museum exhibitions, pottery demos, and a showcase by the woodcarver’s guild. The festival celebrates local creativity and offers a family‑friendly outing as the city transitions into fall.

Plan your final summer outings

With the seasonal calendar winding down, Great Falls residents are encouraged to take advantage of these remaining opportunities. Whether strolling across Ryan Island’s historic bridge, browsing the farmer’s market stalls for fresh produce and crafts, or enjoying the vibrant Arts on Fire festivities, there is still plenty of community spirit to experience before the leaves change.

For more details on any of these events, visit the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art’s event page or check the city’s official tourism website.
