Gov. Mike Braun tours Anderson flood recovery, pledges continued state support

Anderson, Indiana — Governor Mike Braun traveled to Anderson on Tuesday to see firsthand the damage caused by recent flooding and to connect with families still coping with the disaster. The governor drove along Milton Avenue to Alexandria Pike, where he observed flooded homes and ongoing cleanup efforts.

State leaders discuss recovery resources

During the visit, Governor Braun met with Anderson Mayor Thomas Broderick, Madison County officials, and other community leaders. The discussion focused on both immediate relief and long‑term recovery plans, including the coordination of state resources and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance.

“Hoosiers have shown tremendous strength in the face of this storm, and the state will continue working alongside local leaders and families as communities recover,” Braun said. He also thanked first responders, volunteers, and neighbors who have been helping each other rebuild.

Ongoing support for Anderson residents

The governor’s office emphasized that the Anderson visit is part of a broader effort to assess storm damage across Indiana and to ensure that affected communities receive the help they need. State officials highlighted recent allocations for temporary housing, debris removal, and infrastructure repairs, while FEMA representatives outlined the process for applying for federal aid.

Local officials expressed gratitude for the governor’s presence, noting that the visibility of state leadership reinforces confidence among residents. Mayor Broderick said the partnership between city, county and state agencies is essential for a swift and effective recovery.

Looking ahead

As Anderson moves forward, state and local teams will continue to monitor water levels, assess structural safety, and coordinate with utility providers to restore services. The administration plans to hold additional town‑hall meetings in the coming weeks to keep citizens informed and to address any lingering concerns.

Governor Braun’s tour underscores Indiana’s commitment to supporting families and neighborhoods in the wake of natural disasters, reaffirming the state’s role as a steady partner in rebuilding resilient communities.
