Prairie Village welcomed a new destination for golf enthusiasts this month when GolfTRK opened its latest indoor golf simulator center in the redeveloping corner of the Shops of Prairie Village. The eight‑bay facility, equipped with high‑tech simulators and a central PuttView green, is designed specifically for practice rather than entertainment.
Focused on serious practice
Co‑founder Sam Collins explained that many indoor golf options on the market were geared toward casual entertainment, which didn’t meet the needs of golfers looking to improve their game. “What we found was a lot of the indoor golf options that were out there at the time of GolfTRK’s founding were geared towards entertainment. That really wasn’t what we were looking for from a practice standpoint,” Collins said.
GolfTRK’s founders—Collins, Alex Reed and Matt Williams—opened their flagship location in Lenexa in August 2023, followed by a second venue near the Bluhawk development in southern Overland Park in January 2025. The Prairie Village site marks the company’s third Kansas location and the first in the city.
Features that set GolfTRK apart
Each of the eight simulator bays uses advanced tracking technology to replicate real‑world courses, allowing players to work on swing mechanics, shot selection and course strategy. The centerpiece of the Prairie Village location is a PuttView green situated in the middle of the space, a feature unique to this venue that lets golfers practice short‑game skills in a realistic setting.
Unlike many indoor sports venues, GolfTRK does not include a bar, a deliberate choice by the founders to keep the focus on golf practice. “It really started with us looking for a place that we could go and practice. A place that used great technology and had flexible access,” Collins said.
Local market and future growth
Collins highlighted the strong market for golf in Prairie Village, noting the proximity of high‑quality private courses that often have waiting lists or high membership fees. “Prairie Village is a great market for us. We’re surrounded by high‑quality golf courses; a lot of private courses in the area that have waiting lists or are very expensive to join,” he said.
GolfTRK is expanding beyond Kansas, with locations already operating in Oregon, Nebraska and Texas, and plans for additional sites in the coming years. Reed projected that the company could have “around 35 to 40 locations open” by next year.
Community response
The response from local golfers has been enthusiastic. “The response has been incredible. To actually get to this point, it’s a pretty cool moment,” Collins said, describing the opening as a “full circle” moment for the founders.
GolfTRK’s arrival adds a new recreational option for Prairie Village residents and visitors, supporting the city’s ongoing revitalization efforts and offering a family‑friendly environment for skill development.
