A 73-year-old passenger in a golf cart died four days after a crash that involved a vehicle south of Greenacres, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said. Guillermo Lopez, who lived nearby, died at approximately 10:45 a.m. Sunday from his injuries in the crash on Wednesday, June 10, at South Military Trail and Canal Drive, near Hidden Oaks K-8 School.
The crash occurred when a 2017 Toyota Camry, driven by a 60-year-old man who also lived nearby, was going eastbound on Canal Drive and making a left turn onto North Military Trail. The golf cart, driven by a 49-year-old woman who lived with Lopez, crossed Military Trail to go west on Canal Drive. As the car and golf cart entered the Military Trail median, the Camry struck the front driver’s side of the golf cart, PBSO said. Lopez was ejected.
All three occupants were taken by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue to Delray Medical Center. The golf cart driver suffered minor injuries and the Camry driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, had no injuries.
In a separate incident, an 88-year-old resident of Century Village west of West Palm Beach, Grace Matilda Mannion, died June 3 after a crash reported at 10:53 p.m. May 19 at 5800 North Drive near her home.
