Georgetown’s Assisted Living Model Gains National Attention

In Georgetown, Texas, an innovative approach to assisted living is reshaping perceptions nationwide. Laura Chotkevys, driven by personal experience, established a unique residential model that replaces the typical clinical atmosphere with a warm, inviting environment. Her creation, Platinum Resort, offers a comforting space for residents, affectionately called ‘grandparents,’ particularly those with dementia.

Chotkevys’ vision was born out of frustration with traditional assisted living options when searching for a suitable place for her grandmother. The result is a model that emphasizes genuine relationships between residents and caregivers, known as ‘Platinum Angels.’ This approach has resonated deeply, leading to a surge in interest from across the country.

National Expansion

The demand for this compassionate model quickly extended beyond Texas. Chotkevys and her husband responded by launching Assisted Living Mansion, a consulting firm that helps entrepreneurs create similar residential-style senior homes nationwide. The company now collaborates with teams in 26 states, with five communities already operational and many more in development.

Assisted Living Mansion provides partners with building plans, operational systems, and design concepts, allowing for customization to reflect regional preferences. This flexibility encourages creativity while maintaining the core values of comfort and relationship-focused care.

Local Growth

Despite the national expansion, Chotkevys remains committed to her Georgetown roots. Platinum Resort has expanded locally, with two new mansion-style communities recently opened near Hwy. 130 and FM 971. These new properties are already gaining residents, with plans for further development underway.

The impact of Chotkevys’ model extends beyond the residents themselves, profoundly affecting their families. Many locals express gratitude for the peace of mind provided by the caring environment. This emotional connection underscores the success of the smaller, relationship-focused model, which continues to gain traction across the nation.
