Georgetown has seen a range of new developments and businesses in recent weeks. One of the most notable is the opening of a new cafe in the city’s entertainment district. Sweet Lemon Kitchen, which has been a staple in downtown Georgetown for over a decade, is expanding its brand to the new location.
New Businesses and Developments
In addition to the new cafe, Georgetown is also considering the creation of a new active adult community. The proposed development, which would be located on a 162.5-acre tract of land, would include age-restricted residential units and would be annexed into the city limits.
Georgetown officials have also removed the local fee for Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission permits, which is expected to make it easier for businesses to operate in the city. Construction on the Austin Avenue bridges is also set to resume, with the southbound bridge decks being demolished and replaced with new ones.
Meanwhile, veterans in Georgetown will soon have access to VA health care closer to home. The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is building a new outpatient clinic in Round Rock, which is expected to open in 2027. Additionally, U.S. Rep. John Carter has advanced legislation to authorize the construction of a VA outpatient clinic in Georgetown.
