Flooding and Water Pipe Break
The city’s drainage system has been overwhelmed by the recent flooding, with Mayor Marc DePauli stating that the ground has become saturated, causing the 16-inch main transmission line to break. Crews have repaired the pipe, and water service is expected to be fully restored by tonight.
The city is hoping to partner with the Army Corps of Engineers, the state highway department, and grant programs to help pay for the $30 million project to upgrade the drainage system. Mayor DePauli expects the city to contribute 25% of the costs, with the remaining amount coming from outside funding.
