The Frisco Rail District is once again offering its popular buy-one-get-one gift card promotion, aimed at boosting local businesses in the historic downtown area. Starting June 1, residents can purchase a $50 gift card and receive a matching $50 Bonus Card through the Yiftee digital gift card app, effectively doubling their spending power.
This initiative is supported by the Frisco Community Development Corporation (FCDC), which is covering the cost of the matching amount and associated fees. The FCDC has invested over $1.1 million in efforts to support the Rail District, which is home to more than 130 businesses.
Encouraging Community Engagement
Chad Brubaker, president of the FCDC, expressed enthusiasm about the program, stating, “The Rail District is entering an exciting new chapter as construction wraps up and downtown Frisco becomes more walkable, connected, and family-friendly than ever before. The FCDC is proud to support the Gift Card matching program as a way to encourage the community to come back downtown, support local small businesses, and enjoy the new atmosphere taking shape through the district.”
The Bonus Cards will be available only while program funding lasts, and they expire on September 20. However, the standard gift cards do not have an expiration date. The program initially launched last October, and since then, over $950,000 in gift cards and bonus cards have been redeemed, according to Ben Brezina, assistant city manager.
Supporting Local Businesses
The participating businesses are listed within the Yiftee app and on the Rail District’s website, raildistrictfrisco.com. It’s important to note that the cards cannot be used to purchase tobacco, vape, or smoke products, ensuring that the focus remains on supporting family-friendly local businesses.
For those interested in participating or with questions about the program, the city has provided a contact number: 972-292-5000. This initiative highlights Frisco’s commitment to fostering a vibrant local economy and supporting small businesses that form the backbone of the community.
