Freedom Fuel gas stations face $4 million unpaid fuel lawsuit in Pennsylvania

Freedom Fuel Network, a growing chain of gas stations in the Philadelphia suburbs, drew national attention in July when President Trump highlighted its gasoline prices—about 50 cents per gallon lower than the regional average. The company said it was cutting margins to keep pump prices affordable for drivers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Supplier alleges unpaid fuel delivery

On August 19, Mansfield Oil Company of Gainesville, Georgia filed a civil complaint in the U.S. District Court for Eastern Pennsylvania. The suit claims that KRSM, a foreign‑registered corporation based in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, purchased at least 1.12 million gallons of gasoline for Freedom Fuel stations but has not paid the $4 million owed.

KRSM’s attorney, Mauro Tucci, called the case “an accounting dispute over fuel invoices mis‑priced by Mansfield Oil” and said the company will defend itself, adding that no further comment will be made while litigation is pending.

Freedom Fuel’s pricing strategy

Freedom Fuel’s website notes that the chain has expanded from its original 25 locations to add four more stations since the July 4 holiday weekend. At the time of President Trump’s praise, the stations were selling gasoline for $3.48 per gallon, well below the $3.99 Pennsylvania average.

Trump posted on Truth Social that Freedom Fuel was “taking the lead, and others should follow. They are doing this because they love the USA.” He also suggested that national gasoline prices would soon return to the record lows seen before the United States’ recent involvement in Iran.

White House response

Despite the President’s endorsement, a White House spokesperson clarified that the administration has no financial relationship with Freedom Fuel. “The administration is not involved in the company, nor has the administration given the company any funding. There is no other entity or person subsidizing the lower gasoline costs,” the spokesperson said, adding that the chain is simply reducing its profit margin to help drivers.

Current market context

National gasoline prices remain above $4.00 per gallon, with the AAA reporting a $4.08 average on Monday. Pennsylvania’s average sits at $4.22, and several Freedom Fuel locations now list prices around $3.99 per gallon on GasBuddy.

The lawsuit does not name Freedom Fuel as a defendant; it targets KRSM and its president, Syed Kazmi. The outcome of the case could affect the chain’s ability to maintain its low‑price model.
