Dollyfest 2027 Announced: Two‑Weekend Celebration of Dolly Parton’s Life

Fans of the beloved country icon will have a reason to celebrate rather than mourn. On August 31, Team Dolly released details about “Dollyfest,” a two‑weekend festival slated for 2027 that will honor Dolly Parton’s life and music. The event will be split between Nashville, Tennessee, and London, England, giving fans on both sides of the Atlantic a chance to participate.

Why No Traditional Memorial?

Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell, explained that Dolly herself did not want a public memorial where people would simply stand and “boo‑hooo” over her passing. “That is not something Dolly wanted,” Nozell said in the press release. Instead, Parton was quietly laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville last week, a private ceremony that reflected her personal wishes.

What Dollyfest Will Look Like

The festival concept was reportedly a dream of Parton’s, and the team says it aligns with her love of music, community, and celebration. While specific dates and performing artists have not yet been announced, Nozell emphasized that the format will allow fans and musicians worldwide to gather, celebrate, and also have space to grieve. “This is something that is authentic to her, something that feels right to me, and something that artists and fans around the world can participate in, while also giving everyone time to grieve, and giving everyone time to plan,” he wrote.

Comparisons to Past Legends

Unlike the public memorials held for country legends such as George Jones, Loretta Lynn, and Charlie Daniels at the Grand Ole Opry, Parton’s family chose a more intimate approach. Those earlier events often featured casket viewings and immediate public tributes. Parton’s decision to forgo a similar ceremony underscores her desire for a private farewell.

Looking Ahead

Organizers promise that Dollyfest will be a “festival‑style” celebration, likely featuring live performances, tribute acts, and perhaps special showcases of Parton’s extensive catalog. The dual‑city format reflects her global influence and the widespread affection for her music.

Fans can expect further announcements later this year, including ticket information, line‑up details, and exact dates for both the Nashville and London weekends. Until then, the community can take comfort in knowing that Dolly Parton’s legacy will be honored in a way that matches her spirit—through music, joy, and shared remembrance.
