The Vietnamese American Medical Professionals of Florida (VAMP-FL) are set to host their annual health fair, ‘Healthy Together: Community, Wellness & Mental Health,’ at the Phap Vu Cultural Center in Orlando on Sunday, May 31. This event, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., provides community members with free access to a wide range of health screenings and mental health resources.
Comprehensive Health Screenings
Attendees can benefit from a variety of free health screenings, covering everything from diabetes and blood pressure checks to eye and dental exams. The event also includes mental health screenings, addressing the often-stigmatized topic of mental wellness within the Asian community. Dr. Helen Vo, president of VAMP-FL, emphasizes the importance of mental health awareness, especially during May’s Mental Health Awareness Month.
Scholarship Program Launch
In addition to the health fair, VAMP-FL is launching its inaugural scholarship program on June 1. This initiative aims to mentor and support the next generation of healthcare professionals. Four scholarships will be awarded to Vietnamese American students in Florida pursuing careers in fields such as pharmacy, dental, and nursing. The application process will span six months, with winners announced in March 2027.
For more information on the health fair and scholarship program, community members can follow VAMP-FL on social media or visit their website. This event not only promotes health and wellness but also strengthens community ties and supports future healthcare leaders.
