At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 22, the black SUV slammed head‑on into a Hyundai sedan carrying longtime partners Alice Stilwell Holt, 67, and Robert “Bob” Barr Jr., 54, near the intersection of Route 50 and Third Street in Mays Landing.
Chronology of the chase
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the teens—identified as 18‑year‑old Nayshaun Brown of Atlantic City and three unnamed juveniles—removed the G‑Wagon from its owner’s driveway around 3:40 a.m. in Longport. Police began tracking the vehicle shortly thereafter, but the teens managed to evade an initial stop by a local officer.
Hamilton Township police later spotted the G‑Wagon and pursued it around 7:45 a.m. The chase continued for several minutes before the vehicle disappeared from view. Surveillance video captured the moment the stolen SUV struck the Hyundai, sending the smaller car careening into a nearby gas station.
Fatal consequences
The impact killed Holt and Barr instantly. Both were residents of Egg Harbor Township and were described by family and friends as beloved members of the community.
