The city of Fort Worth is moving forward with planned improvements on Wagley Robertson Road in northwest Fort Worth. The project aims to make the road safer and accommodate traffic flow due to growth in the area.
Project Details
The city plans to raise the roadway out of the Fossil Creek floodplain to withstand a 100-year flooding event. A 200-foot bridge will be built to cross Big Fossil Creek, and a 100-foot bridge will cross a tributary. The project also includes widening about a half mile of roadway to four lanes with a median and shared-use paths.
The improvements are designed to improve safety for pedestrians by providing lighting and concrete barriers that shield 10-foot-wide bike and pedestrian paths on both sides of the road. The project is funded through the 2022 bond program, transportation impact fees, and developer contributions, with an expected cost of $35 million.
A preconstruction meeting is set for fall 2026, with the project expected to be completed in summer 2028. The city is working with design-build partner Flatiron Dragados on the project, which can be tracked on the project website.
