Fort Worth Art Commission Approves Four New Public Art Projects

The Fort Worth Art Commission has given the green light to four new public art projects, following a unanimous decision during their meeting on May 18. These projects aim to enrich various community spaces across the city.

Community-Driven Art Installations

Carol Acedo of Invizion Design Inc. presented the final design for an art installation at Fire Station #43 on Walsh Ranch Parkway. Her design features metal layered installations depicting a cow pasture scene, complemented by backlit panels and LED lighting.

Felici Asteinza and Joey Fillastre from Milagros Collective shared their preliminary design for murals and art pieces that will adorn the fencing of a bridge on Everman Parkway. They plan to incorporate community engagement activities into their project, transforming a utilitarian space into a vibrant community landmark.

Karl Unnasch, participating virtually, presented his preliminary design for a glass art installation along Ray White Road. Unnasch assured the commission that the installation would be durable, with measures in place to withstand environmental conditions and potential vandalism.

Kat Warwick showcased her final design for a stone sculpture at Fire Station #37 on Alta Vista Road. The sculpture will symbolize the services and missions of the station and its firefighters, serving as a tribute to their dedication.

Upcoming Projects and Community Support

During the public comment section, Russ Fuller expressed his support for Unnasch’s and Warwick’s designs. The commission also noted upcoming installations, including a project at the Meacham corridor and another at Eastchase Parkway. However, a project at the South Main Street underpass is currently on hold due to city repairs.

The Fort Worth Art Commission, appointed by the city council, continues to oversee the implementation of the city’s Public Art master plan, ensuring that art remains a vital part of the community’s fabric.
