The city of Fort Smith will host a street naming ceremony tomorrow to honor Oklahoma City Thunder player and Fort Smith native Jaylin Williams. The event will recognize Williams’ accomplishments.
Local Hero
Earlier this year, the Fort Smith Board of Directors approved naming a portion of North 23rd Street, located next to Northside High School, as ‘Jaylin Williams Court.’ Williams played basketball at the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs, won a state title with the Fort Smith Northside Grizzlies, and spent two years playing for the Razorbacks.
In 2022, the Thunder drafted Williams. He won the 2024-25 NBA Championship with the team. He signed a multi-year contract extension with Oklahoma City that summer. Williams is still involved with his community, hosting a basketball camp that drew hundreds of kids.
