Fort Bliss, located in El Paso, Texas, has been named the best installation in the US Army. The recognition comes as part of the 2026 Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence.

Award Criteria

The award criteria include evaluations of garrisons’ services, such as security, safety, and maintenance. Fort Bliss was chosen from among 104 Army Garrisons worldwide, under the leadership of 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss Commanding General Maj. Gen. Curtis D. Taylor and Garrison Commander Col. Michael V. Soyka.

Col. Soyka attributed the success to the hard work of the Department of Army Civilians, who manage the day-to-day operations of the installation. He also noted that the recognition can help recruit more people into the Army, highlighting the quality of life in El Paso, which was recently named the best big city to live in.
