A former youth pastor at First Baptist Church of Folsom, David Mercer, 72, is being held in the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Correctional Facility on a $2.5 million bond. He was arrested in connection with allegations that he sexually abused multiple children during the 1990s.
Mercer was initially arrested by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office following a search warrant at a home owned by the church. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center and released on Saturday. However, he was rearrested and is now being held in Bossier Parish.
The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Mercer is in their custody but cannot comment further due to an ongoing investigation.
