Ford Motor Company is recalling 86,543 Mustang Mach-E vehicles because a rear side quarter window glass trim piece may come loose and separate from the car while it is in motion, creating a potential road hazard for other drivers.

The recall covers 2023-2025 model-year Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall report. The affected vehicles were manufactured between February 17, 2023, and October 8, 2024.
The recall report said a detached trim piece could increase the risk of a crash. Owners may notice that the trim is loose or not fully seated and may hear wind noise, squeaking, or rattling while driving.
Ford said the cause of the defect is related to the introduction of a new assembly jig at the supplier’s facility that decreased installation time for the trim piece, leaving insufficient time for the trim primer used during the assembly process to cure. This change resulted in an insufficient bond, according to the manufacturer.
Ford will direct owners to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealership, where technicians will inspect the rear side quarter window glass trim and replace it at no cost if necessary.
