A 63-year-old Florida man, Kevin John Moss, was arrested after attempting to break into a home in New Smyrna Beach late Monday night. The homeowner, Judy Lewis, reported that Moss tried to open her front door and made death threats when confronted.

According to the probable cause arrest affidavit, Moss was observed by Lewis’ son, who looked through the window and saw a shirtless man making gestures with a ‘finger gun’ and yelling ‘boom, boom, boom.’ Ring camera footage also recorded Moss shouting verbal threats at the occupants.
Moss then walked to the back of the residence and tried to push through a sliding glass door. Lewis stated that her son held the deadbolt and stood against the door, ready to defend their home. Moss also attempted to open a kitchen door before leaving the area.
Lewis expressed gratitude that her family, including her son, nephew, and dog, were unharmed. She posted about the incident on social media, warning others to be cautious and thanking the authorities for their response.
Moss was located by responding officers and taken into custody. He was booked into the Volusia County Jail on an attempted burglary charge involving an occupied dwelling and has since posted a $10,000 bond.
