A Pauls Valley High School student recounted the moment a gunman pointed a semi-automatic rifle at him as a judge bound alleged shooter Victor Hawkins over for trial.
Testimony Details
Three months after a gunman opened fire inside Pauls Valley High School, shooting the principal who rushed to stop the shooter, the case moved one step closer to trial. The student testified that the shooter had the semi-automatic rifle pointed right at him before Principal Kirk Moore stepped in to stop the attack.
The student became emotional as he described Moore’s courage in stopping the gunman by tackling him to the ground. Moore was shot in the leg during the scuffle.
Investigation Findings
The court then heard from the OSBI agent, who testified that Hawkins said he had been contemplating suicide, had a fascination with mass shootings, and told investigators he was inspired by the Columbine school shooting.
Hawkins also told investigators that he wanted to kill the entire office staff and fired the first shot down the hallway to make them feel fear.
