According to Vanessa Skipper, vice president of the Brevard Federation of Teachers, one significant challenge contributing to this issue is the prevalence of devices among young children.
Importance of Early Learning
Skipper emphasized the importance of early learning, stating that children who attend voluntary prekindergarten programs tend to achieve greater success. She also encouraged parents to establish strong communication with their child’s teacher to address both academic and behavioral concerns early in the school year.
The report, which is based on data from 2020 to 2025, also notes that Florida ranks last in reading among states. However, some districts, such as Orange County and Bradford County, have shown improvement.
