The iconic ‘Florence Y’all’ water tower in Kentucky is undamaged after overnight storms rolled through Greater Cincinnati late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, despite previous unconfirmed reports. Tower crews say power to the tower went out and the pump that pushes water up stopped working, with gravity then letting the water out of the tower.

Water exiting the tower in this way is part of the tower’s design. Tower crews are trying to shut off the valve until power returns. As of 3:40 a.m., Duke Energy is reporting about 4,000 customers in Florence are without power, and another 128 in Taylor Mill are in the dark early Thursday.
