Former Flagler County Master Deputy Bryan Jackson, accused of grazing an 11-year-old boy with a bullet while off duty, will not be charged, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident occurred in August 2025 when Jackson was allegedly shooting his daughter’s new rifle in his backyard. The boy’s mom told police she was folding laundry when her son came in and said he was hit by something in the wrist and neck.
Internal Investigation
An internal investigation by the sheriff’s office found Jackson violated two policies. He has since resigned, meaning he will not face disciplinary actions within the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said Jackson was with the agency since 2013. The state attorney declined to charge Jackson after the sheriff’s office filed culpable negligence charges.
