First Thursday Art Walk and Nic Fest Light Up Downtown Casper

Downtown Casper, Wyoming, is set to become a hub of creativity and community engagement with the return of the First Thursday Art Walk on June 4. This monthly event, running from 5:30 to 8 p.m., promises a rich tapestry of art, music, and local culture, drawing residents and visitors alike to explore the vibrant offerings of the area.

Art and Activities at ART 321

ART 321, located at 450 South Ash Street, serves as the central point for the Art Walk. This month, it features the exhibit ‘Material Memory,’ showcasing the works of artists Carli Holcomb and Shane Swenson. Additionally, local artist Jim Kopp will present ‘Fables of the Menagerie’ in a pop-up show. Visitors can enjoy live music by The Saddle Tramps and refreshments from Leah, including cowboy caviar and Texas sheet cake.

Nic Fest Celebrations

Coinciding with the Art Walk, The Nicolaysen Art Museum at 400 East Collins Drive kicks off its 20th annual Nic Fest with a community-wide block party. The festivities include live performances from Zoe Grange, Ted LaRocca and the Creole Gentlemen, and Sylance, as well as fire dancing by Miranda Bressler. Inside the museum, attendees can view the works of Zak Pullen and enjoy live piano music by Adam Smith. Food trucks and a beer garden add to the festive atmosphere.

Community Involvement and Local Businesses

The collaboration between ART 321 and The Nic highlights the community’s commitment to supporting local artists and fostering cultural engagement. The rail trail, once a railroad, now serves as a scenic walking path connecting these venues, encouraging exploration of downtown Casper’s arts scene.

Numerous local businesses are participating in the Art Walk, offering unique experiences and promotions. Wyoming Camera Outfitters, Chozen Yogurt, Backwards Distilling Company, and The Drinkery by Cory are just a few of the establishments welcoming visitors with art displays, live music, and culinary delights.

As the evening unfolds, attendees can explore various galleries, enjoy interactive art projects, and take advantage of special offers at local shops like The Cadillac Cowgirl and Fashion Crossroads. The event promises a memorable night of art, community, and celebration in downtown Casper.
