A woman walking near Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City was assaulted on Wednesday afternoon, but nearby firefighters intervened and helped her escape. The attack occurred around 3:30 p.m. on the path south of the Lake Hefner fire station.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the suspect allegedly grabbed the woman from behind, pulled her down, and held her with one hand while attempting to pull her pants down with the other. During the assault, the suspect repeatedly said, ‘Let me get some.’ Oklahoma City firefighters nearby saw the encounter and ran to assist the victim.

The suspect attempted to walk away, but firefighters kept an eye on him until police arrived and detained him. The woman was treated for her injuries at the fire station, and the suspect was taken to the Oklahoma County Jail.

KOCO 5 is not releasing the suspect’s name, as formal charges have not yet been filed. ‘It’s pretty scary,’ said Sarah Wright, a member of an Oklahoma City running club.
