Fever edge Storm 110-107 as Caitlin Clark erupts for 45 points and 10 assists

INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark delivered one of the most electrifying individual performances in recent WNBA memory Friday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, pouring in 45 points and dishing out 10 assists to lift the Indiana Fever past the Seattle Storm, 110-107, in a breathtaking three-point thriller.

Clark was the engine behind everything Indiana did offensively, combining elite scoring with playmaking that kept the Fever’s attack unpredictable all evening. Her 45-point output led all scorers by a wide margin, and her 10 assists meant she was directly involved in virtually every meaningful Indiana possession. It was the kind of complete performance that forces opponents to make impossible defensive choices — and the Storm, despite a valiant effort, never found a satisfactory answer.

Seattle made it a genuine fight to the final buzzer. Dominique Malonga was a force on both ends for the Storm, finishing with 28 points and 14 rebounds — a dominant double-double that gave Indiana’s frontcourt fits throughout the night. Malonga’s ability to score in the paint and clean up on the offensive glass kept Seattle within striking distance even as Clark continued to pile up points. Natisha Hiedeman ran Seattle’s offense with precision, finishing with 8 assists to pace the Storm in that category.

Indiana’s Makayla Timpson provided crucial interior support for the Fever, hauling in a game-high 9 rebounds to anchor the team on the boards.

The Storm’s team statistics tell the story of a squad that competed hard but couldn’t quite overcome Clark’s brilliance. Seattle shot an impressive 57 percent from the field, connecting on 43 of 76 attempts, and knocked down 8 of 21 three-point tries for a 38 percent clip from beyond the arc. Those are numbers that win most basketball games — yet the Storm still came up three points short. Free throw shooting proved to be a vulnerability, as Seattle converted just 13 of 18 attempts, a 72 percent rate that left points on the board in a game decided by the narrowest of margins.

Turnovers were another factor working against Seattle. The Storm committed 17 individual turnovers, with 18 total when team turnovers are included — a costly habit against a Fever team with the offensive firepower to make opponents pay for every miscue. Seattle also surrendered 8 steals on the night, further compounding the turnover problem.

On the glass, the Storm were active, pulling down 35 total rebounds including 13 on the offensive end. That second-chance production helped Seattle stay in the game, but Indiana’s defense tightened when it mattered most, and Clark’s scoring kept the Fever ahead when the Storm threatened to take the lead.

The atmosphere inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse was electric throughout, with the home crowd fully aware they were witnessing something special from Clark. The 45-point, 10-assist line is the kind of stat combination that transcends a single game — it speaks to a player operating at an extraordinary level.

The victory keeps Indiana in strong shape within the WNBA standings, while Seattle will need to regroup after letting a winnable road game slip away despite shooting efficiently from the floor. For the Fever, this was a statement night — and Clark was the author of every word.
