A Boy Scout troop in Fern Creek is dealing with a significant loss after their trailer was stolen from a church parking lot. The troop’s committee chairman, Joshua Wedge, said the trailer was taken early Monday morning, just days after the group returned from a scouting trip and as the summer camping season was getting underway.
Theft Details
Security camera footage shows two men arriving at the church parking lot early Monday morning. One man hooked the trailer to a silver pickup truck while the other sat behind the wheel. The pair then drove away with the trailer. Wedge estimates replacing the trailer and its contents would cost about $7,000.
The trailer contains equipment used by the troop’s 30 middle and high school-aged scouts for camps, outings, and community service projects. Despite the theft, Wedge hopes those responsible will reconsider and return the trailer. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Louisville Metro Police.
